The UK hit gospel star Muyiwa and presenter dubbed the UK face of gospel and Riversongs will be joined by a number of special guests from the glittering world of Nollywood – including the likes of Omotala Jalade – who is the leading Nigerian actress singer and philantropist who also was recently honoured in the Time Magazine’s 2013 Most Influential People In The World List,and Ghanaian TV presenter and actress Joselyn Dumas. Also joining Muyiwa & Riversongz on the night will be a host of Africa’s funniest comedians, including Eddie Kadi and Julius Agwu.
Muyiwa is Britain’s biggest gospel singer and songwriter, helping to popularise the form, bringing it to a wider audience by mixing it up with elements of world music (from Africa, the Caribbean and Asia), soul, R&B and pop.
In 2009 Muyiwa was the first international artist to appear on the American BET channel at the annual ‘Celebration of Gospel’. Two years later the Grammy Award winning Kevin Bond produced album ‘Declaring His Name all around the World’ by Muyiwa & Riversongz reached no. 5 on Amazons World Music Best-Sellers, while its predecessor ‘Declaring His Love’ held the no 1 spot in the HMV Blues and Soul chart for five consecutive months. In 2010 Muyiwa became the first UK Gospel act to sell out the Indigo O2 London, while in 2012 he performed to a sold out crowd at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. Muyiwa is not only making impact with his singing alone,but also through his work as a broadcaster. He has a late-night show on London’s Premier Christian Radio, (where he presents their flagship Gospel Tonight and Worship Tonight programmes), and has won numerous awards, including Best Presenter at the Oasis Awards (2006), Best Radio Show and Best Contribution to Gospel Music at the Gospel Music Awards (2009).
