C. Hub Magazine is proud to announce Dr (Lady) Mitchell Adaeze Nma Mbaeri JP
B.Sc (Hons), RGN, B.Ch.D(Nig.), FDSRCS (Eng.), M.Clin.Dent (Perio), MRDRCSEd, among the recipients of this year’s CA Awards Icon recognition.
Dr Mitchell Adaeze Mbaeri is originally from Orlu Local government area of Imo state in Nigeria. When most of her female contemporaries were kept at home, she was sent to school and encouraged to appreciate the value of education.
Having obtained her first degree in Health Sciences at the then, University of Ife, Ile-Ife, she proceeded to obtain her professional degree in Dental Surgery in 1988.
Shortly after qualifying as a dentist, Mitchell moved to the UK to join her husband. She embarked on a Registered Nurse course while also running a young family. She got hands-on experience in several accident and emergency units in London as a staff nurse during which period, she familiarised herself with the culture of the National Health Service.
Dr Mbaeri decidedly re-established her professional roots in 1996 when she commenced her general surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the well–known Kings college Hospital in London. Over the next four years, she rotated through other notable teaching hospitals as a senior house officer including the University College Hospital in London. Her basic surgical training culminated in her being awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Oral surgery.
She later embarked on a further 3-year specialist training at the Queen Mary University Hospital. She has a Master of Clinical Dentistry Degree in Periodontology and further obtained the Diploma of Membership, with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2004. She also received training in non-surgical facial aesthetics and holds a diploma in counselling amongst other qualifications.
She currently works in both the NHS and private sector providing all aspects of Surgical and Non-surgical periodontal therapy, Osseo-integrated Implants, Botox injections and light sedation. She is the lead clinician in Periodontology at Central London NHS Trust.
Dr Mbaeri is a thorough and well-motivated clinician with excellent interpersonal skills. She believes in the patient as an individual and takes a holistic approach to every consultation.
She has been married for over 30 years and is blessed with five children. She spends her spare time working as a Magistrate with her majesty’s court service.
Mitchell and her husband have also been involved with the Worldwide Marriage and Engaged Encounter since 1990. This is an international catholic movement that is aimed at encouraging active communication in Marriages and has been a solid support to couples in need of guidance and counselling. She is also actively involved in liturgical ministry in her local church.
She leads an active social life and spent five years as the Vice president of Old Orlu Divisional Union during which time she helped shape the constitution and the image of the Union. She was also a Welfare officer for the Imo state union, UK and Ireland. She has used her counselling skills to reach out to people who are in need of both psychological and social support and has been a solid support for many distressed elderly and young people. Mitchell’s Hobbies include fashion designing, dancing and reading.
