Ukwa Ruo Oge Ya O daa –There is A time for Everything will open at October Gallery, London on October 25, 2017 and run through December 2, 2017. The exhibition will explore the richly tactile attributes of the natural world through a series of biomorphic and abstract fibre forms. This will be her third solo outing at the gallery.
Nnenna Okore is a Professor of Art at Chicago’s North Park University, where she chairs the Art department and teaches Sculptural Practices among others. She earned her B.A degree in Painting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (First Class Honors) in 1999, and subsequently received her MA and MFA at the University of Iowa, in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
Added to numerous national and international awards, she received the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award in 2012. Her participation in over hundred solo and group exhibitions combined in the last decade has earned her much recognition and accolade.
She is currently showing at the Mattatuck Museum of Art, Connecticut; N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art, Detroit; and October Gallery, London.

•Ututu Installation: After more than a year of planning, the site-specific installation, Ututu, has temporarily found a home at the Mattatuck Museum of Art, Waterbury, Connecticut. Thanks to Cynthia Roznoy and her curatorial team for making this possible. It will be on display until December 3, 2017.
•As part of the traveling group show Abstract Minded: Works by Six Contemporary African Artists currently on display at N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art, Detroit, my works will be featured along side that of Osi Audu, Nicholas Hlobo, Serge Alain Nitegeka, Odili Donald Odita and Elias Sime. It is an honor to be in the same space with this renowned group. It ends January 6, 2017.
•The Enlighteners: an exhibition of works in the Blachère Foundation collection, is up and running at Palais des Papes, Musée du Petit Palais, Musée Calvet and Musée Lapidaire, France until January 2018.
•Anima: Nnenna’s debut solo exhibition at CSPS, Legion Art Galleries, Cedar Rapids, Iowa opened over the summer and runs through October 29, 2017. “It was a delight to have a showing in Iowa after 12 years.”
•This Fall, Nnenna was one of four Chicago-based artists selected for the Research and Development Lab (RaD Lab) program organized by Threewalls. For this project, she will spend the next 12 months researching and developing ideas for a community-based project in one of Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods.
•In November, Ms Okore will be jurying a textile-themed exhibition titled Between the Seams and organized by the Woman Made Gallery, Chicago. The show opens in January, 2018.
•Lastly, Arthouse Contemporary will feature Nnenna’s work in its upcoming auction on November 27, 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria.
