We are proud to announce Cllr Doris as one of our high profile community leaders to be honoured with an Icon recognition at this year’s CA Awards.
Cllr Doris Jiagge was elected in 2014 as ward councillor for Upper Edmonton and is the current Deputy Mayor of Enfield.
Originally from Ghana where she had her own food processing business and was involved in the automotive industry.
As a Councillor, Doris represents residents in a number of cases, regarding housing, health, education and with fly tipping and clean streets. Also, works with the police, dealing with issues such as prostitution, rough sleepers and beggars.
She belongs to numerous committees with a remit to bring a voice to disadvantaged communities. The include: Child Sexual Exploitation Team; Deaf Community Forum, of which she is the current Chair; and, Health Scrutiny Panel.
Cllr Jiagge has worked within the NHS for over 20 years working in various hospitals, also within the private sector. She has also worked for several years for Haringey Council within Adult Social Services. Alongside caring for people in the community, she is also a loving and doting mother of four.
Doris has been Cultural Consultant to Reconciliation International, which involves teaching African culture and traditions to Young People in UK.
She has undertaken Youth outreach work as well as community engagement, supporting vulnerable children and young adults within the community and also being a Member of the Southgate Rotary Club.
Doris is currently working with the Mayor of Enfield’s Charity, fundraising for Enfield Cares.
