“Keep Your Natural,African Hair”, President Museveni tells Miss World Africa.
The President’s words came when Muzukulu Quiin Abenakyo, the current Miss Uganda, who was recently crowned Miss World Africa, paid a courtesy call on the President at State House, Entebbe.
Confirming his words, Mr Museveni in a series of tweets congratulates the newly crowned Miss World Africa before adding his beauty tips. He wrote:
“I congratulate our muzukulu on these accolades and also salute her for recently completing her university degree course. She is a true definition of beauty coupled with brains.
Abenakyo is indeed a tall, beautiful Musoga girl. My only concern is that she was wearing Indian hair. I have encouraged her to keep her natural, African hair. We must show African beauty in its natural form.”
“She also told me she is an advocate of responsible living among young people. She is specifically focusing on helping young girls lead responsible, healthy lifestyles.”
Finally pledging his governments support for the Miss Uganda Foundation, he said;
“Again, I congratulate Muzukulu Abenakyo on this feat. Going forward, the government will support the Miss Uganda Foundation.
I must commend Abenakyo’s parents for raising her with values. Many young people today rush into promiscuity and ruin their lives, yet a little patience and completing school would give them a foundation on which to enjoy the rest of their lives with their spouses.”
The Ugandan president’s comments has been met with anger as people question is moral grounds for his comments when his government never assisted the Miss Uganda during her entry for Miss World Africa. Many were quick to point out how she struggled to raise her ticket to attend the competition.
One tweeted, “I wish u know how this young lady troubled to reach China where she represented our country without ur government’s single coin. Why do u always brag on seeds u didnt saw? The same happened to Kiprotich, he had to strain to get airticket to London, on his return, it was u again.”
Others also pointed out how living standard in the country has dwindled with no hopes for youths. Others have called for the 74year old who has Been in office for over 3 decades to resign.
