Her Majesty The Queen has passed on two Patronages to The Duchess of Sussex – The National Theatre and Association of Commonwealth Universities. The Queen has held the roles for 45 and 33 years respectively.
Over the past year The Duchess of Sussex has held meetings and conducted private visits with each of these organisations — today she will visit Smart Works, and over the coming weeks will undertake public visits to the other three.
The Duchess of Sussex today arrives at Smart Works and joins a discussion with volunteers and women they have helped succeed in job interviews.
So far, the charity has helped over 11,000 women and has plans to dress 3,500 women this year across the UK.
The Duchess meets Ruma, who was referred to Smart Works from the Princes Trust ahead of her interview.
Ruma had been out of work for almost a year, but has now secured a part time role, and will be coming back to pick a set of outfits from the Dressing Room for her new job.
In the Smart Works Dressing Room, The Duchess helped Patsy style an outfit for her new job.
The award-winning charity helps unemployed women in their upcoming interviews by offering them an outfit to wear and 1:1 coaching.
The Duchess of Sussex will visit The Mayhew on Wednesday 16th January.
Her Royal Highness will meet staff, volunteers and beneficiaries, and hear more about the animal welfare charity’s various initiatives, from community engagement to international projects.
