G-Innovation Football Club, A Grassroots Club set To Change Nigerian Football For the Best.
Grassroots football is aimed at developing football from the local level. It can also be described as the bedrock of any country’s football development. This sector of football has been helping individuals develop their football talents and has also been helpful in making people that have passion for the game remain fit and healthy – The chief executive and owner of G-Innovation Football Club, Mr. Chigozie Edwin Nwagwu, emphasized on this and other things when we interviewed him over the weekend.
Nwagwu also talked about the motive behind the establishment of G-Innovation football club in 2014: “I have been in the industry for a while and I have observed the industry. I wanted to create something different, something new. I needed to let the industry know, how an academy should be run and the purpose of creating one.”
According to the G-Innovation Football Club boss, the club has been a source of blessing locally to all the leagues in the country having some of their academy graduates play for the notable professional football clubs in Nigeria such as – Ifeanyi Uba Football Club (FCIU), Nembe City Of Bayelsa, Abia Comets, ABS Ilorin, UNICEN ROVERS OF Calabar, Crown FC of Oshogbo, Dakada FC of Uyo (formerly Akwa Starlet), to mention a few. He buttressed that the club is not stopping there as their target is to see their products in the nearest future dominate world football. “Sooner, very soon, we are going to have our players dominate the major football clubs in the world.”
He pointed out the fact that G-Innovation football club has been doing pretty well on the field of play lately (both friendly and competitive matches) in all the games they have played so far in the 2019/2020 season. In these games, they have recorded 30 wins, 4 draws and just 2 losses.
Chigozie told us the secrets behind achieving this great success: “We don’t rush things. We only go to matches or competitions when our players are ready. The players with the right attitude and passion are chosen. Hard-work, perseverance and lots of proper training and monitoring have been helping us outreaching our targets. G-Innovation’s ultimate goal is to extend the good record and keep the momentum going for as long as possible.”
He ended by saying there is no room for complacency as the club is still a work in progress, “it is a process, we have not gotten there yet. We are still working.”
