Naomi Osaka wins her second US Open Title.
Naomi Osaka, defeats Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to win the #USOpen title.
She won her first beating Serena Williams in the 2018 open title match.
After dropping the 1st set, Naomi Osaka wins the 2nd set against the Belarusian, 6-3, she goes on to secure the title on the 3rd set with yet another 6-3.
Just three times in the Open era has a woman won a major singles final after losing the first set 6-1:
2001 French Open – Capriati def. Clijsters, 1–6, 6–4, 12–10.
1981 US Open – Austin def. Navratilova, 1–6, 7–6, 7–6.
1994 US Open – Sanchez Vicario def. Graf, 1–6, 7–6, 6–4.
Naomi has just become the fourth woman to do so in a US Open.
Through the US open run, she has been raising awareness about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Osaka also had the names of all the black men that lost their lives in the United States respectively on each of the masks she used from her first day in the tournament up until the final yesterday.
She said her intention was to bring awareness in stopping the evil act.
