While we look forward to welcoming warmer weather it plays havoc with our wardrobes. We have lost count of the amount of times we carefully pick out our outfit for the day and then find ourselves too warm, too cold or rained on. We thought that we would share our top tips so you can layer up for spring while making transitioning your seasonal wardrobe that bit easier.
Wear a fitted roll neck under a camisole top
Being able to recycle pieces from your winter wardrobe is a great money saver. Our wardrobes are jammed packed with roll necks and we aren’t ready to say goodbye to them just yet. Go for a fitted style and layer it under a pretty camisole. By making sure that the roll neck is fitted it means that you won’t add unnecessary and unflattering bulk to your outfit. It also means that if you do get too warm it is easy to remove a layer.
Wear a long skirt under a short dress
For this look to work best select a slightly looser dress to wear over a lightweight skirt. This will give a much smoother finish; you don’t want any lumps and bumps. If you want your outfit to be sleek and elongating then choose a dress and skirt in matching shades but if you are after a slightly more edgy look then bold colours and contrasting prints can look great. Again if you get a bit warm you can easily take off the skirt and it won’t take up much room in your bag.
Wear a tunic over trousers
This outfit is quite similar to wearing a long skirt under a short dress. Go for cropped of flared style trousers which suit this look best. If you’re trying this trend for the first time then choose a floaty tunic to go over your trousers. Contrasting tones will also give the most flattering finish.
Wear a strapless top over your shirt
This is one of our favourite combinations because it can look incredibly chic. Your shirt can be fitted, oversized, tucked in, tucked out or printed just as long as the bandeau top you go for is fitted and in a neutral shade.
