Editor’s letter, The Designers Issue 2017, C. Hub Magazine
Style Your Future Bright.
Fashion defines a people’s character, identity and taste. African designers are no longer emerging rather, they have come to take their rightful place in the world of fashion. Throughout the world, African fashion and style is continuing to set the pace; both in the fabric design, and styling.
In this issue of C. Hub magazine, ‘The Designers issue’, we bring you exclusive spotlight on our cover girl, Ghanaian teenage model, Rhesa Owusu who at the age of 14, became a runway sensation. Now 17 and has won the most prestigious fashion awards in the industry. In 2014, she became the runner up at Divas of Colour and this year won the title. Last year, she also won the model of the year at BEFFTAs and has been blazing on the most influential runways, from Divas of Colour, Africa Fashion week to London Fashion week.
Also we had an exclusive chat with the 2017 Divas of Colour Designer of the year, Afua Sam of STUDIO, who unveiled her latest collection, Freedom Collection at this year’s Divas of Colour. Wowing the audience with some exquisite and quirky designs which are truly expression of freedom in true sense of it. Resisting the Trump era and it’s tendency to suppress all that we have long overcome. Read the full gist on page 13 of the designers issue.
As if it’s not enough we bring you all the dazzling designers at this year’s Divas of COLOUR fashion show, Slay in Health, raising awareness on gynaecological cancers. All exclusive never seen before images and stories behind their collections.
Topping off the designers issue, we search for top 10 African designers shaping the taste of African fashion. From the likes of legendary Duro Olowu, Adama Paris, Thula Sindi and Korto Momolu. Find out more inside this issue who made it to the top 10 in a particular order.
