Every season there are always a couple of trends which really take off and this season sock boots are everywhere. We have to admit that we loved them the moment we saw them. The close fitting style combined with a sharp pointed toe and a stiletto heel is surprisingly flattering. They are also incredibly versatile to wear.
The sock boot was first spotted on last year’s catwalks at Balenciaga and Vetements. Designed to fit just like a sock, these boots are available in a range of materials like velvet and lurex. There is literally a sock boot to suit every taste with classic black or bold prints.
There are several advantages to a sock boot. The calf length boots are ideal for wearing with your cropped trouser from last season which helps to extend the life of them into the colder months. The slim fit of these boots gives a lovely feminine look which makes a change from the chunkier boots that normally start appearing this time of year. Thigh high boots are perfect for wear on colder days with or without tights to keep the chill off.
Styling
Now that we are into the darker, colder months try injecting vibrant shades like yellow into your look. A bright pair of sock boots will look great with denim and a blazer for lunch with friends, or paired with dress for a night out.
For more of a statement look try a glitter pair which really dresses up your outfit add interest to a monochrome outfit with a fun floral pair.
If you are unsure whether to go for calf or thigh high then there are a few things to consider.
Calf Length
Calf or ankle length boots are a lot more wearable than the thigh high versions. You can wear them to work with pencil skirts or at the weekend with kick flare jeans and a jumper.
Thigh High
If you do decide to go for thigh high then you should aim to cover the top of the boots with your skirt or dress. This will give the most flattering finish to your outfit.
