Due to the suspension of the top-tier league in Togo as a result of coronavirus pandemic, Kossi Koudagba left the city of Kara and headed to his childhood town Devie (in the suburbs of the capital Lomé) to spend time with his family members. It was during this period he fell ill and died of malaria at the age of 25.
ASC Kara manager, Jean-Marie Eloh, emphasized the importance of Kossi Koudagba to their club side while the 25 years old forward was still alive: “A great player promised to a great career. His concern was to put the ball at the back of the net and he was doing that very, very well.”

The FTF Executive Committee would like, on behalf of Togolese football, to express our feelings of sympathy to the family of the deceased, loved ones, the ASCK club, as well as the staff and players of the Togo national team.”
