2. * How Lewis Hamilton Won his 91st Formula One Victory at the Eifel GP.
Lewis Hamilton coming out top at the Eifel Grand Prix some few hours ago means the Briton has now equalled Michael Schumacher’s all-time record of 91 Formula One wins. This particular victory is the seventh win for Hamilton in this current campaign. Lewis Hamilton is now 69 points clear off second-placed Valtteri Bottas (the Briton fellow Mercedes driver) in this season Formula One championship.
Michael Schumacher’s son Mick, the Formula Two leader who is expected to be racing in next season’s Formula One championship, presented Lewis Hamilton with one of his father’s red helmets from his second stint in Formula One with Mercedes. Mick had nothing but praise for the Briton on his latest achievement as a great motorsport driver: “Congratulations and this is on behalf of all of us. A great achievement, really.”
Hamilton, on the other hand, said it is an honour for him to have matched Michael Schumacher’s Formula One record victories: “Thank you so much, it’s such an honour. I don’t even know what to say. When you grow up watching someone you generally idolise them, you know, really just in terms of the quality of the driver they are but what they are able to continuously do, year on year and race on race and week on week. Seeing his dominance for so long, I don’t think anyone and especially me didn’t imagine I’d be anywhere near Michael in terms of records. So, it’s an incredible honour and it’s going to take some time to get used to it.”

Hamilton second on the grid started behind Bottas who was on pole position. Not quite long into the race, the Briton came out ahead through the opening corners after a wheel-to-wheel battle with Valtteri Bottas.
Bottas opened the door, however, on lap 13 when he ran wide at turn one and damaged his tyres with Hamilton close behind and going ahead at turn two.
Five laps later, during a virtual safety car period, the Finn (Valtteri Bottas) reported a loss of power which then forced him to retire.
The safety car was deployed late in the race when McLaren’s Lando Norris pulled off with a smoking engine and both Hamilton and Verstappen were persistent in complaining over the radio about the slow pace and their tyres going cold.
During the restart, Hamilton consistently gained momentum to reach the very top of the Grand Prix race and maintained it till the very end to unlock another achievement on his profile by equalling Michael Schumacher’s incredible record.
